Imira Entertainment has secured distribution deals for kids’ and family content across the globe with partners such as Netflix and Disney.
Imira closed a multi-title deal with Netflix for Vroomiz, MiniForce, Power Battle Watch-Car, Lucky Fred, Lola & Virginia and Sandra, the Fairytale Detective. Disney, meanwhile, took all four seasons of the non-dialogue, slapstick comedy Larva for Latin America and the Caribbean basin. In addition, Turner acquired Badanamu and Vroomiz for Italy, while Nickelodeon is expanding its previous multi-territory acquisition of Larva, adding more seasons for Spain, Portugal and Portuguese-speaking Africa.
In addition, Spain’s Clan TV signed on for the preschool show YoYo, and South Africa’s Showmax picked up Jamillah & Aladdin for the African continent. Canal 11 in Mexico went for Zack & Quack and YooHoo & Friends. Portugal’s SIC, meanwhile, secured The Smurfs for its SIC K channel for Portugal and parts of Portuguese-speaking Africa, as well as for its SIC International channels on a multi-territory basis. Imira also sold a 14-title package to Czech Republic and Slovakia’s free-TV channel Tuty Broadcasting and closed a ten-title deal with Buongiorno for its KidsInMind app. In the Middle East, Kids Network picked up Sandra, the Fairytale Detective.
Imira is heading to Annecy with new content, including the comedy adventure Smighties, following a group of small but mighty heroes who live in a fantastical world. There is also Gummy Bear, based on the internet sensation; the preschool series YoYo; Hogie the Globehopper; The Larva Collection; and additional short-form content and new apps of the online phenomenon Badanamu.
Imira’s CEO, Sergi Reitg, commented, “2017 so far has been extraordinary for Imira from a distribution point of view, closing our year with more than a 70-percent increase in sales, largely [due] to the new emerging and consolidating digital platforms who benefit from the huge range of preschool and kids’ catalog we have, as well as the multi-language versions availability and our speedy and effective digital delivery system.”
